The inception of the Import Section within the esteemed Ceylon Chamber of Commerce traces back to the early 20th century, a period marked by profound significance for the import trade of Sri Lanka. In the year 1901, visionary members deeply involved in imports embarked upon a pioneering journey, giving rise to the inaugural ‘Ceylon Importers’ Association’.

At its core, this association was driven by a paramount goal to spearhead and guide matters pertaining to the import trade. Recognizing the ever-growing importance of imports, these enterprising individuals embarked on a mission to provide dynamic leadership within the industry.
